Florida Football with Urban Meyer

Editor, Segment Producer – 3 Seasons (2006 – 2008)

Florida Football with Urban Meyer was a weekly sports highlights and talk show that aired across the state of Florida on SUN Sports and FSN Florida during college football season. The show features highlights from Saturdays’ games and featured discussion between the “Voice of the Gators,” radio play-by-play announcer, Mick Hubert and the head football coach.

I worked on the show with Studio 601 Inc. for three seasons during an era that turned out to be a remarkable time in Gator Football history with the team winning two BCS National Championships. During the week, I would work on a documentary profile-style segment called, Inside Gator Football; working with the producer, assisting on shoots, and editing the segments. Immediately following a game, I would begin collecting footage and editing highlights. Using the game broadcast along with exclusive sideline footage shot by Gator Vision and Studio 601, I would cut together segments such as a recap of the game’s highlights, the Pepsi Play of the Game, roll out for the closing credits, and a weekly piece titled, All Access, which took viewers onto the sidelines and into the locker room to get an immediate reaction from student athletes on the top plays of the game. These edits often happened overnight. If there was an away game, I’d wait for tape to return on a plane or a bus. I’d be up all night editing, as the Gator Nation rested, so there would be a show ready for coach, Mick, and the crew at WUFT studio early Sunday morning.
