When a rejection letter derailed his college plans, Christian Keen found a home at Santa Fe College, where he developed into a student leader and scholar. Christian is now a proud Gator, and Santa Fe College alumnus.
In advance of applicants finding out whether they’ve been accepted or rejected by the University of Florida, Santa Fe College Communications & Creative Services has rolled out the 2015 version of our annual “SF to UF” campaign. The project was a total team effort, with my role being the production of the video about the transfer student who was originally denied admission to UF before achieving at a high level at Santa Fe College.
We’ve sent a postcard to every high school senior in our district which introduces Christian’s story, boasts about the high transfer rates from SF to UF, and directs them to the website sfcollege.edu/uf. We’re also promoting the link on social media though Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Of course, part of the goal is to raise SF’s admission rates, but more than that, I’d like to think our work on this project will offer hope and encouragement to young people who may be facing a major setback in their plans for college.
